Custom Woodworking Order Process Step by Step

Initial Contact
In order to start the process only one call to us is necessary. We will take a few minutes to discuss your project and your possible options. If custom woodworking fits the situation we will then take your contact information and schedule an in-home consultation or an appointment at the showroom. (For some projects neither of these meetings are necessary.)

Sales Visit
When you meet with the salesperson they will take as much time as necessary to get an idea of what you would like your finished project to look like. This information consists of measurements of the space as well as figuring out what style would work best for you. If you have magazine clippings and pictures of what you like, these are very helpful for achieving the look you are after.

Receive Proposal
In approximately one week you will receive a proposal for your project. The proposal will consist of at least two parts. One will be a proposal for design and drafting services for your project. The other will be an approximate cost estimate for your project as was discussed at our meeting. This estimate matches the final estimate 95% of the time. If you have any questions or concerns please call. If the project cost does not fit your budget please call and we can discuss ways to cut costs. Many times there are ways to cut costs without sacrificing the entire design.

Design Stage
If you decide that you would like to go ahead with the project. The next step is to place a design retainer. This retainer is for design services only and does not obligate you to have the project built. Once the retainer is received it generally takes a week or so to draft the design. We can than meet again for a design presentation or the design can be mailed. After this any revisions that are needed are made and the design is finalized. Once the design is paid for, the drawings are yours to do with what you wish. We hope you will have us produce the design for you.

Place Order
To have us produce your project, one copy of the following needs to be signed and returned to us:
  • Proposal
  • Contract
  • Job Spec Sheet
  • Design Drawings
  • Deposit

Shop Drawings/Finish Samples
Shop drawings and finish samples and then produced and sent for your approval. If you choose a standard finish you will not receive a sample. Upon approval of both of these items your job will be scheduled in our shop. Depending on the size of the job lead time can be 6-12 weeks.

Production
When the job is done being produced you will be invited to the shop for a final inspection of the job. The final payment for the manufacturing of the job will be due at this time and delivery/installation will be scheduled.

Installation
Installation in the home varies in length from one day to many weeks depending on the scope of the work to be preformed. No matter what the length our installers will respect you and your home.

Enjoy
You can now enjoy your new cabinetry. If there are any problems or concerns please call us and we will take care of them. Also, please tell your friends and neighbors about your experience with Kropp Woodworking.
